STAIR FININSHING

Wooden stairwork requires a shift in paradigm with higher attention to detail when it comes installation. Unlike flooring, which gets cut slightly short from contact to the wall (for acclimatisation reason) then covered by baseboard, stairwork must be cut virtually PERFECTLY (1/16" less from wall to prevent creaking sound from rubbing against wall). The vertical dimension must also be done with height accuracy, and gets nailed and glued. Stairs are usually interconnected with the flooring, but if they are a separate platform (such the the photo at bottom of this page), different design selection can be viable for an unique appearance.
